Finding new way to solve old problems
The same applies to the market for flexible packaging papers, which Koehler now enters as the challenger. Koehler offers a broad portfolio of standard papers for flexible packaging. The portfolio includes paper coated on one side (C1S) for a wide variety of applications such as pouches, bags, yogurt banderoles and yoghurt lids, as well as uncoated paper that can be machine glazed in a unique way. Koehler has the world's largest Yankee cylinder, which is installed in its paper machine 8 at the Kehl plant. The cylinder ensures that the paper has properties that are unique and enhance the performance of our customers.
Honest sustainability as a claim for the company
Koehler already has a long history in the field of recycled paper and cardboard solutions. The recycled fiber boxes offer a wide variety of colors and applications. A large number of Koehler products from the production facilities in Greiz, Germany, have been awarded the important German eco-label "The Blue Angel".
The boxes are suitable for many types of high quality products. Due to the unique feel, they not only give the content of the packaging a special value. They also underline the claim of sustainability that the product brings with it and that is becoming more and more important. Pioneers in research and development expertise
In order to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable and responsible packaging solutions, Koehler is developing barrier papers with functional surfaces. The goal is to develop barriers that currently only plastic or multi-layer composites can offer. These include barriers for flavor, water vapor, mineral oils (MOSH/MOAH), grease and more. Koehler entered already into collaborations with brand owners and converters to develop sustainable paper solutions for different end use applications, such as food, confectionary, cosmetics etc. In addition, the company operates the Green Coating Collaboration together with the Technical University of Darmstadt. This is a unique research community that will create better sustainable packaging solutions for all industries.
